It was like every other day on 22nd May for me. It was the usual 7 am work till 3.30 pm.
While on my way back from office, there were tonnes of things that were playing in my head. The Wedding. The House.
Which design should I choose for my wedding card; How is the house renovation going to be like, How I am going to earn more bucks to support all of this expenses, Should I have a better decor for the wedding
and it just keeps flowing in like a broken pipe.
I mean, everyone would want a perfect start as a newly wed. Who wouldn't, right? Even I think it sounds a little too much, while typing all of these, but you know, we just imagine.. and these ideas grows, and eventually we get carried away.. yadayadayada.. I know.
When I got home, I lay on my bed, with my Ipad, and messed around to get my mind off all of these. I was tired of thinking.
I turned on my Facebook page, and got a shock of my life.
Someone posted that one of my friend had passed away.
I was lost for words. I just sat there, and wondered... "What was wrong? She's just 24! A brilliant kid, a true friend and was never in the bad books!"
I told Josh that I was to attend her funeral, at least, to pay my last respects to her before she leaves.
I took an emergency leave, and left for Ipoh.
I hitched a ride with a fellow friend at midnight to headed back, only to reach at 1am.
We rushed to her house, and then it hit me.
Did I know this girl? This girl resting in her coffin, looked totally different.
I just sat there, thinking... what life is all about?
She studied hard, had big dreams, wanted to help her family out financially... She was all that.
But fate has it, she had cancer.
Breast cancer, which had spread to the uterus.
She was in pain for over 2 years.
What is life?
Now, every time I start thinking for the wedding preparations, I am constantly reminded to leave it simple.
All you have to thank for is the guest attending, and your family.
While you are still breathing, be thankful that you are here, with all your loved ones.
Life doesn't have to be all fairy tales.
